This is some exhibition footage for a new design of easily-placed undersea seismograph. The video is based on pre-existing promotional artwork for the product.
To make it a little more fun, the units were flown in from behind the camera, rather than simply dropping them vertically down onto the sea bed.
Work was done in Autodesk Maya and Rendered in Pixar's RenderMan.
